Day long workshop/open seminar where parents and experts can speak freely on what works.

Behavioural Specialist Lorraine Mayer from Channel 5's 'Families Behaving Badly' will give a presentation on her experiences with teenagers. This is a free event with refreshments, goodie bags and an iPod prize draw. The topics covered are:

  • supporting teens and emotional extremes
  • weight management and healthy eating
  • sexuality
  • drugs
  • live song and dance sketches by teenage groups

Open to: all childcare providers in the London Borough of Ealing

This was a one-day conference for childcare providers in Ealing looking at some of the key issues affecting parents, their childcare choices, the help on offer, effective information giving and much more. Conference sessions were:

  • From words to partnerships: what works - Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) approach to building trust
  • Parenting Strategy: what it means for childcare providers
  • Listening to parents: barriers to using childcare. Overview of research by the Daycare Trust
  • Engaging effectively with teenage parents
  • What you focus on is what you get
  • Engaging with hard-to-reach families
  • Getting the message across-time to look at your communication strategy
