Don't panic! If you've had sex without using contraception or think your contraception hasn't worked, emergency contraception may be able to prevent a pregnancy.
The emergency contraception tablet should be started within 3 days (72 hours) of unprotected sex (but it needs to be taken as soon as possible to be effective and the earlier it is taken, the more effective it is). Emergency contraception DOES NOT protect against sexually transmitted infections.
GUM stands for genito-urinary medicine. The clinic can help you with any concerns you have about sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
