Safeguarding children
Any individual, group or organisation working with children needs to understand current legislation, guidance, recommended policy and procedure about safeguarding children.
Ealing's Safeguarding Children Board are about to launch the new edition of the 'Yellow Book' called Ealing Child Protection Procedures. Visit our Events page to find out more about the launch. To obtain a copy of the new edition once it is published on 18 October 2011 - please email Halima Abouannaoual at Ealing CVS halima@ealingcvs.org.uk. These procedures will keep you up-to-date on safeguarding legislation and good practice and help you to establish your own safeguarding policy and procedure within your setting.
Ealing has also published Safe Recruitment Guidance for anyone responsible for recruiting staff for work with children and young people.
This guidance emphasises the importance of ensuring that there is a structured process in place for recruiting both paid and non paid workers including appropriate checks being made on an individual BEFORE they start working (CRB check, reference checks etc). Also contains helpful sample documents such as application forms, reference requests etc.
Ealing Council's website has a section on safeguarding children and child protection that explains what to do and who to contact if you have any concerns.
